Ira, the leader of the Tamil National Alliance and a member of parliament, said he would not retire until a political solution was found for the Tamil people. Sampanthan has announced.

Ira holds the post of Member of Parliament. Sampanthan MP He made the announcement following reports that he would resign.

In this connection he further stated,

“I did not come to politics to enjoy comfort. I came to politics to find a political solution to the long standing problem of the Tamil people. So I am not going to say goodbye to politics without getting it under any circumstances.

Although we have long demanded that the Government of Sri Lanka come up with a political solution for the Tamil people, I have never had the intention of retiring from politics until a solution that includes the future prosperity, peace and self-determination of the Tamil people is found, as that demand goes unnoticed and procrastinates.

When Father Selva invited me to come into politics I came into politics after I refused three times. The reason I came into politics was to find a lasting, definitive solution to the long-standing problem of the Tamil people. I have been fighting for it for the last 50 years.

My visit was just politically motivated and not a journey to enjoy the benefits. ”
