AFEMAGRA receives the 2023 Baza Joven Award for its youth mental health program
The entity from Granada has been recognized with this award, granted by the Baza City Council, in the form of associations and volunteering.
The Asociation Afemagra Mental Health Granada Northeast has received the Baza Joven 2023 award, with which the Baza City Council recognizes young people from the city who contribute to making it better with their work and careers.
The Dengra Theater hosted, on the afternoon of Thursday, May 4, the grand ceremony of the Baza Joven Awards, in its 20th edition.
In the modality of associationism and volunteering, the entity AFEMAGRA Salud Mental Granada Northeast has been recognized in this edition, for its program to help young people to improve their mental health.
This award honors the association for helping young people feel more confident and comfortable in their fight against the emotional and mental challenges they face.
During the year 2022 several programs have been carried out, among them, that of promotion and awareness of mental health and addiction prevention, carried out at the institutes IES Alcrebite, IES José de Mora and IES Jiménez Montoya.
Together with the Provincial Council of Granada and the Mental Health Federation AndalusiaAFEMAGRA developed the Suicide Prevention campaign “Allow yourself to Live”, with the dissemination of a Suicide prevention guide “Allow yourself to live”, geared towards the younger population.
In addition, on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, October 10, 2022, a gymkhana was scheduled with the students of the Baza collaborating institutes to commemorate that day. This activity consisted of Recognize the 7 most frequent myths regarding mental health and the social stigma that surrounds it.
AFEMAGRA Salud Mental Granada Nordeste was born in 2009 as an initiative of several families willing to create a help resource for their sons and daughters with mental health problems and for themselves. The association has become a space for exchanging experiences, knowledge and personal relationships between people with a mental health problem, especially among the younger population, and carries out interesting awareness and prevention actions. As a result of the pandemic, AFEMAGRA Salud Mental Granada Northeast increased attention to the younger population, between 17 and 28 years of age, for which reason it is developing a new employability strategy, skills development and employment support program for young people with mental health problems.
