Electoral campaigns highlight all kinds of emotions and feelings among those who are the protagonists of political acts. The president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, who is running for his re-election in 28M, does not lack physical and verbal gestures of affection towards all the people who attend institutional and party events.
He is well known for his effusiveness and close relationship with people. In the photos of the public events that his Communications Office usually offers to the press, there are many snapshots of ‘squeezes’ to those who come to listen to the president. But a phrase pronounced in one of his last pre-election rallies together with these usual hugs and cuddling that he usually gives to his supporters, colleagues and colleagues, has unleashed criticism for his implicit machismo.
During the presentation of the candidacy for re-election of the socialist mayor of Talavera de la Reina, Tita García Élez, the regional president took the stage after the latter’s intervention and hugged and kissed her repeatedly, before the gesture, between amusement and surprised, of the candidate. But the controversy has been unleashed mainly by some of the words that she dedicated to him:

The truth is that the president of Castilla-La Mancha has always effusively shown his affection for the mayoress of Talavera de la Reina, who was previously Minister of Public Works in his government. In fact, he once again said of her that he “in the future he will rule on this earth”, pointing to her (and it is not the first time) as her possible successor.
The PP criticizes what its candidate also did
This video has practically gone around all the political groups in Castilla-La Mancha and the country and it has been the PP who has issued several statements in a torrent criticizing its “machismo”, although this party is not the best example in this regard either.
His own presidential candidate, Paco Núñez, has also been criticized on several occasions for his statements about women and marriage.
One of the most famous was in 2017, during the celebration of an act on the occasion of Women’s Day in the town of Almansa (Albacete), of which he was then mayor, when he praised “each and every one of the women who they spend sleepless nights taking care of their children, who get up so that everything is ready. That they go to school, that they come back, that they work, that they prepare the food. They take care of the whole house and the whole family. That they are good wives, good mothers and good travel companions and that they make it possible for this society to advance ”, he said in his speech, something that then earned him criticism from political officials of the Castilian-Lamancha PSOE.
