Madrid invest more than two billion euros to fight drought

Spain is currently facing a dramatic drought. The level of the country’s reservoirs – which store rainwater for use in the drier months – fell in the first week of May to 48.9% of their capacity, and even much lower in Catalonia (north-east) and Andalusia (south), the two most affected regions.

The Spanish government therefore adopted on Thursday a set of measures worth more than two billion euros to fight against drought and lack of water and to help agriculture.
