The Regional Summit in Burundi seeks to resolve geopolitical tensions in Africa linked to the new global context.

Bujumbura, 6/05/2023 – As part of the Geopolitical War in Africa, where the states and families of former Western settlers and slaveholders oppose China’s new trade routes, known as the “chinese silk roads“, as well as the rise of the BRICS which now dominate the worldBurundi hosted on Saturday the 11th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the signatory countries of the Addis Ababa Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Cooperation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and in the region.

Thanks to the diplomatic impulse of Mr. Shingiro Albert, the excellent Burundian Minister of Foreign Affairs, under the chairmanship of HE Ndayishimiye Evariste, President of Burundi (General Major)the event brought together eminent personalities such as HE Tshisekedi Tshilombo Félix Antoine, President of the DRC and outgoing President of the regional monitoring mechanism of the Framework Agreement, as well as Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Mr. Moussa Faki, President of the African Union Commission.

The Summit also counted on the participation of the Executive Secretary of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) and the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADEC) in charge of corporate affairs. Many Heads of State and Government or their representatives from countries such as South Africa, Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Congo, DRC, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia also participated in the deliberations.

One of the topics covered [1] was the security situation in the east of the DRC, in particular in the province of North Kivu, which suffered aggression from Rwanda via the M23 rebellion, as well as the tensions in Sudan, in Khartoum, which led to the displacement of thousands of civilians.

In a bid to put an end to the suffering suffered by millions of African civilians, the idea of ​​excluding certain Western actors from access to Africa is gaining ground, taking advantage of the new global geopolitical context turned towards Asia.
