A group of people of dubious origin have lately caused great uneasiness among the residents and visitors of the Complejo la Panadería neighborhood, since they have made their home an abandoned educational establishment, however one of the inhabitants remembers that all this started a long time ago. A year ago when they arrived homeless, they stole some things from the place to sell them and obtain income that they invested in their vices.
Situation. A homeless den, “The inhabitants of the abandoned house unfortunately began to enter the neighborhood chapel and break doors, glass and plates, which has generated that the residents no longer want to wait for something else to happen but take the appropriate actions to put an end to this situation” said Juan (protected name). Likewise, it is known that on the night of Sunday, May 7, with the help of police officers, they entered the uninhabited place, finding articles of clothing and some substances that they consumed inside.
Actions. It is known that around four people began to inhabit the space three months ago, however there are 10 to 15 people who sometimes come to this old school called ‘Oswaldo Guayasamin’, and they also began to show up with those malicious and vandal behaviors and intentions; And in view of this situation, the residents have organized themselves to stop them from carrying out these activities and to see that the neighborhood is united to defend each other.
Order. The intention is to make the public aware that the sector is currently dangerous to transit and that is why they should take due precaution, specifically between Alausí street and Edelberto Bonilla and 21 de Abril avenues, also “to encourage the new administrations to take action on the matter and can carry out some works to reactivate the place and eradicate insecurity in the sector” concluded the resident. Now it is a purpose of the inhabitants to maintain the respective organization to prevent more of these situations from occurring.
