The Europe’s Rail Rail Joint Undertaking research initiative has convened a two-day conference in Berlin around solutions for control and automation. In this professional meeting, the work on the Tauro, X2Rail-4 and X2Rail 5 projects focused on various subjects such as cybersecurity, communications or traffic management, among others, will be explained.

These days, under the title “X2Rail-4, X2Rail-5 and Tauro Final Rolling Event”, will take place, on May 23 and 24, 2023, aboard a round trip train journey from Berlin to Dresden. . After the opening ceremony by the European research program Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking, there will be a general presentation of the three projects under analysis.
Immediately afterwards, various presentations will be made on the aspects that have been addressed in the X2Rail-5 project such as communications adaptable to all types of railways, cybersecurity, integration of on-board systems. In addition, a technical demonstration will be carried out, the evolution of traffic management will be analyzed by the X2Rail-4 work group and other topics will be discussed, such as the train control and monitoring system (TCMS) based on the communications standard. The second day’s agenda will begin with a presentation of the FP2-R2Dato project on digitization and autonomous operation of trains. Later, there will be a panel of presentations that will focus on train positioning and location systems, automation of operations, remote driving, migration of the ATO system on ETCS or intelligent radio, among others.
