The discussion of the The health reform was reactivated this Thursday in Congress after the summons at the last minute and ended with a victory for the Government, since three articles of the project were approved. The vote ended with 14 votes for “yes” and six for “no”.

The Historical Pact (3 votes), the Liberal Party (4 votes), the U Party (2 votes), the Green Alliance (2 votes), the peace seats (2 votes) and the Comunes Party (1 vote) they approved them; while the Conservative Party (2 votes), the Democratic Center (2 votes) and Cambio Radical (2 votes) rejected it.

The beginning of the debate, however, was cut short by the disagreement that the opposition congressmen expressed for not giving enough clarity about the articles that would be voted on.

For this reason, the president of that commission, Agmeth Escaf, decided to create a Accidental Commission to guide the discussion and gave them three hours to study it. In addition, it announced that it was made up of representatives Martha Alfonso (Green Alliance), Héctor Chaparro (Liberal Party), María Eugenia Lopera (Liberal Party), Alexander Quevedo (Conservative Party), Alfredo Mondragón (Historical Pact), Camilo Ávila (Party of the U), Germán Gómez (Common Party) and Juan Carlos Vargas (peace seat).

Meanwhile, members of the opposition parties – Jairo Cristo of Cambio Radical and Juan Felipe Corzo of the Centro Democrático – they refrained from being part of that commission.

At the time, the unions of the EPS who were following the debate expressed concern about the time members would have to deliberate, as they were 450 propositions to study in three hours; that is, they would have 24 seconds to dedicate to each one.

“Acemi considers that this process does not allow a technical and detailed debate of the contributions made by many congressmen”said the union of the Colombian Association of Comprehensive Medicine Companies.

For its part, Gestarsalud, a union of subsidized EPS, assured that “we requested a comprehensive, technical and detailed study. The health of Colombians is at stake.
