In July, Latam will offer 1,900 extra flights in Brazil to meet demand during the school vacation period. In all, there will be 24,500 domestic and international trips operated during the Brazilian high season, a volume 17% higher than that recorded when compared to the same month last year. With this, the expectation is to serve 3.6 million passengers in the period, growth of 18% on the same comparative basis.

Latam’s largest domestic increments were scheduled for the Brazilian Northeast, while international additions were mainly scheduled for tourist destinations such as Mendoza and Buenos Aires, Argentina. The operation also includes expanding the Fortaleza-Miami route.

“We are more efficient and stronger in this high season. We plan our air network in a sustainable way to generate more connectivity to Brazilians”, says the Director of Sales and Marketing at Latam Brasil, Aline Mafra.

Demand

In March, traffic measured by the total passenger-kilometer (RPK) indicator for the domestic market, including all companies, registered an annual increase of 8.8%, according to the most recent data from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac). Latam had a market share of 37.5%, with RPK 16.4% higher than the same month last year. In the international market, the company’s share is 20.6%.

When taking into account the total operation of the Latam Group, not just the Brazilian one, demand has also grown this year. In the first quarter of 2023, the company’s consolidated RPK registered an annual growth of 27.2%, while the number of passengers transported increased by 18.1% on the same comparative basis.

Between January and March 2023, Latam reported net income attributable to company owners of US$121.8 million, reversing the loss of US$380 million from the first quarter of 2022.
