Frenchwoman Julia Tolofua lost in the final of the Doha World Championships.
Frenchwoman Julia Tolofua, in bronze last year, won the silver medal in the +78 kg category on Saturday at the World Judo Championships in Doha.
Tolofua lost in the final against the Japanese Akira Sone, Olympic champion in 2021 in Tokyo. She was penalized with a third penalty after more than 7 minutes of extra time.
It brings France a sixth medal since the start of the competition.
In a thunderous start to the day, the Frenchwoman had dominated in the quarter-finals the reigning vice-world champion, the Brazilian Beatriz Souza, beaten by ippon in 1 min 40.
In the semi-finals, she went to extra time before defeating the Chinese Xu Shiyan by waza-ari.
In the same category, Romane Dicko, yet reigning world champion and world No.1, was eliminated as soon as she entered the running.
