Gabriel Boric, left ex-student leader, will rule Chile – Chile in the future

by time news

Gabriel Boric Font has come a long way. The route from his hometown of Punta Arenas on the Strait of Magellan to the Palacio de La Moneda, the official residence of the Chilean President, is more than 3,000 kilometers long. This is where he will work from March 11th, when the 36-year-old succeeds incumbent Sebastián Piñera thanks to his election victory over the ultra-conservative José António Kast. Then he will not only be the youngest President of South America, but – after the Capitano Reggente of San Marino – the second youngest incumbent head of state worldwide.
