Thomas Müller is a sought-after man after his return to the starting eleven with a goal against Schalke. He comments on wild exchange speculation, his Bayern role and a conversation with the board.
After the various speculations about his future at FC Bayern Munich, Thomas Müller found a conversation with CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic to be supportive. “I felt that this conversation was a reaction from FC Bayern to give me backs because there was some outrageous speculation, especially with regard to these exchange stories,” said Müller after the 6-0 of the German record champions in an interview with the ARD sports show.
After several games under the new coach Thomas Tuchel, in which he initially sat on the substitutes’ bench, Müller was said to be considering a change in the summer. “It was written as if I felt like I was already sitting at the negotiating table with I don’t know which clubs. That’s cheese,” said the 33-year-old. Bayern native Müller has spent his entire professional career with the record champions. He is currently aiming for his twelfth championship title with FC Bayern.
“If you don’t play, nobody is super happy,” said Müller after the Schalke game, in which he again led the Munich team in the starting lineup as captain and also scored the groundbreaking 1-0. Müller presented himself as an absolute team player after the game: “The coach is employed by us to make the line-up and distribute the roles. We then have to accept them (as a player) and carry them out one hundred percent in the interests of the team. We want to be German champions,” said Müller and added: “It’s not a one-man show here.
