End of reign for Erdogan after 20 years in power?
Will Turkey’s strongman hand over? The re-election of Islamo-conservative President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, president for 9 years, but in power for 20 years, is not guaranteed, while the latest polls announce a very close ballot and that more than 5 million young people will vote for the first time.
Turkey, worn down by an economic crisis, is hit by inflation that exceeded 85% in the fall and was still marked by the deadly earthquake that occurred last February.

Erdogan facing Kiliçdaroglu: who are the candidates for the election?
The ballot is polarized between two main candidates: on the one hand the Islamo-conservative President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, 69, in power for twenty years, on the other Kemal Kiliçdaroglu, 74, at the head of a social- democrat and secular.
The current head of state remains the champion of the conservative majority, while Kemal Kiliçdaroglu, an economist by training and former senior civil servant, has been the leader of the Republican People’s Party since 2010.
Between these two men, voters will have to choose: one-man rule or a collegiate leadership, autocracy or the promised restoration of the rule of law.
A third candidate, Sinan Ogan, is credited with a few points.
