It is common for two company colleagues to cross paths, but if they are two heavyweights and there is tension and rivalry between them, sparks usually fly. And more when one of the protagonists has obtained the ‘victory’ by decision of the leadership of Telecinco. It has already happened to Jorge Javier Vázquez and Ana Rosa Quintana after the ‘bomb’ went off at the end of ‘Sálvame’. The one who will be Jorge’s substitute in the afternoons of the chain had a chat with her partner casually. They met and wished each other luck, reveals Vázquez in an interview on Catalunya Ràdio. The tone was kinder than expected.

The Catalan has revealed this weekend what his fortuitous meeting with the ‘queen of mornings’ was like: «What came out of my heart was to give her two kisses and wish her luck. I started working with her more than 25 years ago on ‘Sabor a ti’, on Antena 3. Honestly, above all else, I have great affection for Ana Rosa Quintana, I cannot deny it. I gave him two kisses and told him that these are things that happen in the company.

Vázquez confessed before the audience that Ana Rosa explained to him in person her decision to accept the offer because of the strong commitment she feels towards Mediaset. “Since the chain had behaved so well with her, she wanted to correspond to that good relationship they had,” says Jorge Javier.

However, the sincerity of the popular communicator faded at times. When asked about the reasons for the cancellation of ‘Save me’, Jorge Javier did not want to step into any puddle: «I can have my opinion, but maybe it is not the right one. And honestly, I don’t like to express myself. I’m still in the company and it’s still my home. In all this story I do want to have a very cool head. I am very happy in this company.” The presenter has two more years of contract and is the current host of the most successful reality show on the network, ‘Survivors’. In addition, it is expected that he will also present ‘GH VIP’, which will return to the air from September.

Jorge Javier’s future at Telecinco seems guaranteed, at least until 2025, the date on which his contract ends. Although a few weeks ago he even hinted that he was leaving of his own free will, but according to his last words, everything about him indicates that he will end his legal agreement with Mediaset in two years.

Internal battle in Telecinco

Troubles in Telecinco have been common for a couple of years, when the main Mediaset chain lost its lead in audiences and internal disputes began to break out. Mainly, between the two large production companies of the chain: Unicorn Content -directed by Ana Rosa Quintana- and La Fábrica de la Tele -linked to Sálvame and the world of the heart on Telecinco-.

While the programs of La Fábrica de la Tele sank in audiences, Ana Rosa resisted in her slot as ‘queen of the mornings’. And while Telecinco opened a melon. The broadcast of the Rocío Carrasco docuseries raised tensions between the two producers to the maximum. So much so that Rocío Flores appeared on Ana Rosa’s set defending her father, and hours after her in ‘Save me’, Rocío Carrasco accused him of being an abuser.

Finally, and after many months of confrontations, the new leadership of Telecinco decided to veto a long list of famous people. Among them, the aforementioned trio: Rocío Carrasco, Antonio David Flores, and their daughter, Rocío.

In recent times, the waters fell calmer in Mediaset but the tension between the two producers was transferred to the protagonists. Ana Rosa acknowledged a few months ago that her relationship with Jorge Javier is complicated: «He is brilliant, but ideologically I do not share anything. We love us. When he has had problems I have called him, and when I have been sick, he has called me. In truth, we are very far ».
