For the sixth edition of the high mass of foreign investment in France, called “Choose France”, Emmanuel Macron is preparing to announce on Monday a record harvest of projects for a total of 13 billion euros. This year, out of some 400 guests received under the gold of the Palace of Versailles, 206 bosses of multinationals have confirmed that they would make the trip. The largest of the projects announced this year has already been unveiled by Emmanuel Macron: 5.2 billion euros for a gigafactory of new generation batteries from Taiwanese ProLogium, located in Dunkirk (Hauts-de-France) with 2,000 jobs at stake. The construction of the factory should start next year for commissioning at the end of 2026. This is the second “gigafactory”, a giant battery factory, which is set up in Dunkirk.

In the same city, the Chinese XTC will build with the French Orano a factory of components and recycling of batteries for 1.5 billion euros.

Photovoltaic panels

Ikea wants to strengthen its presence in France

Among other projects, the Swedish furniture giant Ikea announces 906 million euros of investment in France by 2026. A new logistics center should also open near Toulouse, with “very likely” new jobs at the key, management announced. It also confirmed the installation of a similar platform in Limay (Yveline) from 2026.

Another project, the Finnish Nokia aims to create 500 jobs in its research and development centers in Saclay, in the Paris region, and Lannion in the Côtes-d’Armor.

Investments in pharmaceuticals

In the pharmaceutical sector, Pfizer is injecting, like last year, an additional 500 million euros. The American company explains in a press release that thanks to this new investment, it will “strengthen the capacities in terms of clinical trials in oncology and traditional research”.

For its part, the British GSK announces 240 million of investments on three production sites in Évreux (north-west), Mayenne (west) and Saint-Amand-les-Eaux (north of France), and more than 150 million for research and development. Finally, the Italian biotech Sapio will invest 200 million euros over three years for an acquisition and an extension of activity, 100 jobs at stake.
