Queen Elizabeth II was Australia’s head of state
Elizabeth II visited Australia 16 times in her lifetime and was known to have a deep love for the country, whose people also admired and respected her. Proof of this is that, in 1999, the Australian government held a referendum to remove her as head of state, but the people chose to keep her as their sovereign.
Now, Australia now recognizes the Queen’s son, King Charles III, as its current head of state.
