JAKARTA – PDIP gave a signal that the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Ganjar Pranowo came from the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) circle. How’s the reaction PKB whose mass base is NU members?

PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) said he could not interfere with what the PDIP wanted. “Yes, that is the authority of Mrs. Mega. We will leave it to Mrs. Mega and the PDI-P to determine the authority. We can’t get involved,” Cak Imin told reporters after meeting Vice President (Wapres) Ma’ruf Amin at the Wapres’ Office, Monday (15 /5/2023) evening.

Cak Imin was also reluctant to respond to questions about the erosion of PKB’s votes if a nahdliyin figure became Ganjar’s partner. He admitted that he only remembered the statement by the general chairman of PBNU KH Yahya Cholil Staquf that NU did not participate in politics and would not offer its cadres to contest as presidential or vice presidential candidates.

“I can’t comment, but if you look at the statement of the general chairman of PBNU, NU is not involved in politics and NU will not offer its cadres to contest as candidates for president or vice president. That is a statement from the general chairman of PBNU, I can’t comment,” he explained.

Cak Imin also refused to respond to the inclusion of the name Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas as a candidate for Ganjar’s vice presidential candidate. “I don’t know, I can’t comment, no comment,” said Cak Imin.

Was there a PDIP approach to PKB, according to the Deputy Speaker of the DPR, who admitted that his party continues to communicate with PDIP and the communication is good. However, each of them respects each other and PKB has chosen to form a coalition with Gerindra.

“Yes, we communicate and interact well with friends in the PDIP, even in the DPR, in the MPR almost every day. Of course we respect each other that I have chosen a coalition in Gerindra,” he said.
