After several months of discussions, Cédric Doumbé will fight on June 23 for the first time in his new organization, the Professional Fighters League (PFL). A fight eagerly awaited by the many fans of the Franco-Cameroonian, who hope to see him beat Jordanian Jarrah Hussein Al-Silawi before heading to the $1 million tournament.

But among the anonymous, the 30-year-old fighter can count on a supporter of choice: Kylian Mbappé. In an interview with the specialized podcast “The MMA Hour”, he assured to have spoken with the Parisian, with whom he shares a Cameroonian origin. “I spoke with him on FaceTime, he called me. He said, ‘Look, I don’t know shit about MMA and UFC, but I’ll get up at 5 a.m. for you. We have a friend in common, he is the one who put us in touch,” he explained.

It will indeed be necessary to wake up in the middle of the night to attend the first fight of “The Best” at the PFL. There is a six-hour time difference between Atlanta, the venue for this clash, and Paris, so the fight should start around 4 a.m. Which does not scare the French striker, who will be on vacation after facing Gibraltar and Greece with the Blues in the qualifiers for Euro 2024.

In this interview, Cédric Doumbé also returned to his choice in favor of the PFL. Hesitating between the UFC and the PFL, he finally opted for the second organization, less famous but where he will receive “ten times more than at the UFC. »
