The Hollywood star received two important prizes at the British BAFTA TV awards ceremony in London.

Kate Winslet (47) came with her daughter Mia (22) and used the big stage for a heartfelt appeal. With tears in her eyes, she campaigned against hate and hate speech on social media.

“For young people who have become addicted to social media and its downsides, this doesn’t have to be their life,” her mom said urgently. “To those in power and to the people who can make a difference: Please criminalize harmful content!”

“We want our children back,” Kate Winslet demanded. “We don’t want to lie awake in fear for our children’s mental health.”

The actress urged any young people who feel they are “trapped in an unhealthy world” of social media to seek help. “There’s no shame in admitting that you need support,” Winslet said.

“If I could, I would break the award in half and give the other half to my daughter,” Winslet said in her acceptance speech for her Best Actress award. “We did this together, kid!”
