Adif will allocate 14.7 million euros to the modernization of the catenary of the metric gauge network of Cantabria. With this action, framed in the Cercanas Plan and with an execution period of nine months, all the catenary disconnectors in the network will be renewed, while they will be included in a remote control system that allows them to be automatically monitored and controlled. contact overhead line safety devices.

The catenary modernization works include all the installation and integration actions of this equipment, supplies, assembly, configuration and start-up. This action will improve the reliability of the power supply to the line, even in the event of incidents with a drop in electrical voltage, and enhance the circulation capacity of the network.

This contract is part of a project to modernize the electrical installations that feed the metric gauge network in Cantabria. In this sense, Adif is working on the construction of the new substation in Requejada and the renovation of the Puente San Miguel substation (both on the Santander-Cabezón de la Sal line), and the Orejo substation (Santander-Lirganes line), with an investment of six million euros.

Auto-Block Banalized

In parallel to the improvements in electrification, Adif has other actions in progress in the Cantabria metric gauge network, including the installation of the Banalized Automatic Blocking signaling system in various sections of the network, tendered for 34.6 million euros , in order to maximize the operability of the roads and improve their exploitation, especially in the event of traffic incidents.

In addition, the reinforcement of the Raos viaduct is under tender, for an amount of 2.4 million euros, and the installation of new signaling in the Astillero-Orejo section, with an investment of 5.5 million euros. Added to these actions are the works to duplicate seven kilometers of track in this last section, already awarded, with an investment of 37.3 million euros.
