“We appreciate the willingness of the parties to carry out this humanitarian operation that ended with the handover of this person, whom we were able to reunite with his family. We recall, in accordance with international humanitarian law (IHL), the importance of respecting life and the dignity of people, including protecting those who do not participate or have ceased to participate in hostilities,” said Hugo Fiz Palacios, head of the ICRC sub-delegation in Florence.
