Psychologist and sex offender: Yuval Carmi, a certified psychologist by profession, was brought to the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court today (Tuesday) for a hearing, and admitted to committing an indecent act on a young woman who had been his patient for many years.
An indictment was filed against Carmi, attributing to him offenses of sexual intercourse between a therapist and a patient, an indecent act between a therapist and a patient in one patient, and an offense of an indecent act without the consent of another patient. Carmi, as mentioned, is a certified psychologist by profession and a yoga teacher, who has received patients at the private clinic in his backyard.
According to the first indictment, in which he confessed and was convicted, the defendant treated a young patient starting in 2017 after experiencing sexual trauma, and when she suffered from post-trauma and dissociative dissociations, among other things. In December 2020, the young woman came to a treatment meeting at the clinic, where the defendant offered her to perform a “chakra connection” exercise, and she agreed. During the exercise, while she was sitting on it and they were stroking each other, he kissed her.
The next day, the young woman arrived at the clinic, where the defendant performed sexual acts on her while taking advantage of her mental dependence on him. According to the second indictment, during 2018 the defendant treated another young woman after experiencing a mental crisis. In one of the sessions, the defendant instructed her to perform a role-playing exercise. At one point the young woman began to cry and he hugged her, then touched her and kissed her without her consent.
