Lars Danielsson was the head of Sweden’s permanent representation in Brussels starting in fall of 2016. He is retiring in August after serving the state for over forty years, which includes the Swedish presidency of the Council of Ministers. The government has now appointed Mikaela Kumlin Granit as his successor. She’s currently an ambassador in London and will take over the position in August. The EU representation in Brussels is responsible for representing Swedish interests in the European Union.
