A good year after their joint performances for the benefit of people fleeing the war in Ukraine, there will be a new edition of the concert by three choirs at three locations in mid-June. A small but fine choir festival begins on Tuesday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Christophorus. The choirs “Melodize plus” from Ladbergen, “Voices” from Rheine and “Die Liederlichen” from Ibbenbüren are again asking for donations, which this year will benefit the Christian youth work in Ladbergen, the ecumenical outpatient hospice in Rheine and the table at the SkF in Ibbenbüren . Admission is free.
The ensembles point out that the groups will present themselves individually and very individually, but will also be on stage as a large choir with new songs, which once again promises a special sound experience under the direction of Ralf Kötting.
In contrast to national and international relief efforts, the three choirs focus their donations on the equally important voluntary work that is carried out in local projects. “To give help and hope” is the intention of the benefit concert. This applies to the singers, but also to the audience, the ensembles say. “It depends on us”, they make clear, this motivation should be reflected in the contrasting program of the more than 50 active people.
From a light-footed “Feeling groovy” to a sensual “Something remains” to a convinced “It’s my life”, the musical arc is stretched, they give an insight into the list of titles. The songs present a variety of life situations, from worrying and depressing everyday life to confident and happy moments. The members of the choirs hope that with their benefit concerts they will also be bearers of hope for the many people who need their attention and support.
Further concerts with “Melodize plus”, “Voices” and “Die Liederlichen” are on Wednesday, June 14th, in the church of St. Marien in Rheine, and on Thursday, June 15th, in St. Ludwig in Ibbenbüren, respectively at 7.30 p.m.
