The four children who survived a plane crash in the Colombian jungles continue to appear. They had been lost since May 1, when the plane in which they were traveling with their mother, the pilot and an indigenous leader, crashed in the virgin jungle of the department of Caquet, southwest of Colombia.

The device was only sighted last Tuesday and when a military contingent managed to get to where it had fallen, they only found the bodies of the three adults, Magdalena Mucutuy Valencia, 33, the mother, among them. This Friday they have been transferred by air to San José del Guaviare, capital of the department of Guaviare, to carry out autopsies that can shed light on what happened.

The Army deployed sixty soldiers in the area to comb the area looking for Lesly, 13, and her brothers Soleiny, 9; Tien Noriel, 4, and Cristin Neriman, only 11 months old, from the Huitoto ethnic group. Although initially the President Petro He announced the rescue of the little ones, then he had to deny that they had them safe and reported that they should continue searching the jungle in order to find them.

In the first moments, some soldiers, accompanied by guide dogs and natives of the region, found scissors, a bottle, a hair band and other elements that abounded in the hypothesis that Lesly had guided her brothers to a safe place to protect them.

But her grandfather, Fidencio Valencia, believes that it is impossible for a girl, no matter how brave her granddaughter is, to be able to walk so far and so fast as to get miles away from the crashed plane, with some children on her back and through the inhospitable jungle. “It is strange that the children walk so much. The boys are no longer guided by the girl. There must be someone who is guiding them. In a mystery that is in the jungle,” he tells EL MUNDO. “There are elves, they transform like the presence of a loved one, it can be the father, the uncle. They guide them.”

He considers it very strange that children have abandoned scissors or bottles, which would be useful to survive in such adverse conditions. He seems suspicious that there are clues as soon as the military show up, but he doesn’t have an explanation. “It’s a virgin jungle, no one lives there. It’s very strange,” he adds. Despite the days that have elapsed and the hostility of the jungle, he trusts that they will turn up alive. “I am in prayer, we want support from traditional doctors, grandparents, governments, colleagues, friends. We need everyone.”

Since Thursday night, Air Force helicopters fly over the entire area broadcasting a message from the children’s grandmother over loudspeakersin which they ask Leslie not to move, to wait for the arrival of the soldiers.

And an audio from the military gave the impression that the happy ending was near: “We are in the final hours of Operation Hope, which will turn out to be a miracle. God with the four minors and with us. Today is a day of glory to them, to their family, to Colombia and to the world. Cheer up my commandos; only we achieved the impossible and we achieved it quickly”.
