Doral Energy will receive funding of about NIS 3.3 million from the chief scientist in the Ministry of Energy for the construction of a project that will be a pilot for the production of electrified green hydrogen that will be produced in a photovoltaic facility with a capacity of about 400 kilowatts. The facility will be built and will operate in the areas of Kibbutz Yotvata. The green hydrogen produced at the facility will be stored in a unique hydrogen storage facility where the stored hydrogen will be used for various applications such as storage, transportation and industry.

Doral will use H2Pro’s hydrogen production technology and will establish a first-of-its-kind facility in Israel for the production of green hydrogen from solar energy. The technology has an efficiency potential of about 95%, the technology is based on knowledge developed at the Technion.

Last August, Doral announced the expansion of its activities, the initiation and development of independent complexes for the production of green hydrogen from photovoltaic installations and wind turbines, and the examination of synergistic investments in companies developing technology in this field. The facilities will be used, among other things, for energy storage, industrial and transportation plants and other uses in the future.

Green hydrogen can bring the good news of green energy to applications that have been blocked so far – green hydrogen can be a clean replacement for significant energy consumers who consume non-electricity (fuel, LPG, natural gas, etc.) such as heavy industry, aircraft, shipping and more.

The company said that the uniqueness of this type of project is that green hydrogen enables long-term energy storage and even seasonal storage, due to the lack of dependence on existing batteries today, which are unable to store large amounts of electricity for extended periods of time. The vast majority of storage facilities today, allow storage for short periods of time of individual hours and days.

Yaki Neumann, CEO of Doral: “The field of production, storage and transportation of green hydrogen will be a significant growth engine for Doral and will improve its competitive capabilities and profitability in the space of renewable energy projects. We are working to promote additional projects in Israel, Europe and the United States, and we intend to support and invest in innovative technologies in the field. “
