Dubai: A three-day holiday will be available in Dubai for the New Year. January 1 will be an official holiday, according to the Dubai Government’s Human Resources Department. According to the new New Weekend (UAE New Weekend) coming into force in the country next year, the working days will resume on Monday, January 3 after the holidays.
From January 1, the country’s public sector weekends are changing. The new method is to work four and a half days a week and take three and a half days off. Accordingly, Friday afternoons and Saturdays and Sundays will be closed. Many private companies have announced that they will switch to the new holiday system modeled on the government sector.
Although December 31st is a Friday, the holiday will be a public holiday, as the change will only take effect on January 1st. Under the new rules, Saturdays and Sundays will be extended to a total of three days off in the government sector in Dubai to coincide with the New Year.
