Indeed, at the Rwanda-Benin match in Kigali, we were surprised to see that the Rwandan team fielded the player Kévin Muhiré. A player who received a yellow card in the first leg in Cotonou against Benin, and who also received a yellow card against Senegal. And according to the regulations of this competition, after two yellow cards you are suspended for the following match. Benin, which now has such a professional staff, prepared the match against this team well without this player. Because, we had viewed all the old matches of Rwanda. We knew very well that this player is an essential pawn of the team. So, we were a little happy to know that he wouldn’t be lined up for this game. So great was our surprise to see him on the scoresheet. Naturally, we had, in the rules of the art, done what was necessary. We had carried a qualification reserve which we had first announced to the match commissioner when we discovered the presence of this player on the match sheet. The commissioner was not convinced because he did not receive notification from CAF. So we quickly gathered the evidence that this player did indeed receive two yellow cards and should not be positioned for the match. And before the start of the match of course, we had transmitted this evidence to the match commissioner who promised to transmit our reservation to CAF in his flash report.

Please tell us what are the real stakes of this diplomatic-sporting victory that you have just won in front of Rwanda?

First, we must salute this victory since in the past, it was not easy. It is true that we had done things as they should in the rules of the art, but we must salute the dynamism of our authorities, namely the Minister of Sports, and especially the President of the Beninese Football Federation who made of this file his daily milk. He did a daily follow-up of this file. Which allowed us to have the three points today. These 3 points relaunch us in the competition. Since there we are 2^e with 4 points 0 while Mozambique has 4 points -4.

This is pumping us up for the rest of the competition. But also, it remotivates the whole troop as well as the staff, the players, who now know that we still have chances of qualification and combative leaders behind them.
