LE FIGARO. – Why the role of advanced practice nurses does not appear consensual?
Louise LUAN. – Depending on the actors, the definitions of the work and the place of IPAs are not the same. The public authorities present them as a solution to increase the supply of care. The nurses, who campaigned for the creation of the profession, see it as an opportunity to diversify the exercise of a profession which does not offer many possibilities for career development, especially in town, and to obtain more ‘autonomy. But for a number of GPs, the APN should practice primarily within the framework of delegation of tasks, which means that the doctor remains solely responsible.
