The Civil Guard rectifies. The Border and Maritime Police command has sent instructions so that the 24 hours provided by the Maritime Service agents be counted, for all purposes, as such, and not as 15, as provided in an order against which the AUGC protested. According to the spokesman for this association, Pedro Carmona, it was logical: “hour worked hour computed”.

The association had expressed its “concern about the new working hours imposed”, which they considered an “abuse” and a “failure”, with alarming consequences for the workforce.

They assured that “approximately 50% of the members of the Maritime Service are on sick leave due to the labor conditions imposed. This is unacceptable and jeopardizes the effectiveness of the service. Excessive working conditions, lack of proper rest, and staff shortages have led to an untenable situation. Our colleagues deserve fair and safe working conditions.”
