Donatien Gomis, defender of Guingamp, refuses to participate in the campaign against homophobia, the Ligue 2 club told Agence France-Presse, confirming information from the Telegram. In this sense, the football player preferred to forfeit, rather than play the match to be held in Sochaux, this Saturday, May 13 at 7 p.m.

On the occasion of the annual campaign “Gays or heterosexuals, we all wear the same jersey”, all L1 and L2 players wear this weekend a flocked jersey in the colors of the rainbow, which also adorn captain’s armbands. These jerseys must then be auctioned off for the benefit of the Foot Ensemble, PanamBoyz & Girlz United and SOS Homophobia associations. But Gomis, regular holder of Guingamp in central defense, refused to wear this jersey. The club has “taken note” of this and president Fred Le Grand is due to see the 28-year-old Senegalese player again next week.

A precedent last year

Last year, another Senegalese, the international Idrissa Gana Gueye, then midfielder for PSG and today at Everton, had already been strongly suspected of having withdrawn for not wearing this jersey.
