Increase in Coahuila number of minor victims of corruption

So far in 2023, 14 investigations for corruption against minors have been initiated in Coahuila and the number of victims in related crimes has increased to 54 percent, according to official figures.

Data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System show that, compared to the same period of the previous year, This year three more inquiries have been initiated based on complaints from victims under 18 years of age.

The 14 inquiries initiated correspond to a total of 17 minors who have been victims of these crimes, while last year there were only 11 in the same period.

In four months of 2023, more than half of the victims that occurred during the 12 months of 2022when the Prosecutor’s Office reported 30 minors as victims of these crimes.

In at least one of the cases that have been investigated, the perpetrator of the crime attempted against more of a minor.

Among the crimes contemplated is from the induction of harmful substances to a minor, to sexual exhibitionism, induction to pornography, or for the commission of a criminal act, among others.

These cases have been denounced in Castaños, Francisco I. Madero, Monclova, Parras, Saltillo, San Pedro de las Coloniasand mainly in Keepwhere six of the 14 inquiries have been registered.

The provisions of the Penal Code indicate that this type of criminal behavior can be punished up to five years in prison.
