The Federal Supreme Court (STF) should resume next Wednesday (24) the judgment on the decriminalization of drug possession for personal use in Brazil. The agenda was put in the voting order by Minister Rosa Weber, current President of the Court.
Initiated in 2015, the judgment on the legalization of narcotics in Brazil has already obtained three favorable votes, with ministers Gilmar Mendes, Luís Roberto Barroso and Edson Fachin.
If it obtains a majority, the agenda will change the Drug Law in the country. Currently, the legislation says that it is a crime to “acquire, store, store, transport or bring drugs without authorization or in violation of legal provisions for personal consumption”.
Now, with the resumption of the trial by the STF, if legalization is approved, it will no longer be a crime for anyone who allegedly makes personal use of drugs previously considered illegal.

For Pastor Marco Feliciano, the possible legalization of narcotics in Brazil will favor trafficking and will contribute to the destruction of families. “This proposal is the foreshadowing of an announced tragedy”, says the federal deputy member of the Assembly of God Church.
“Well, families will be victims of addicts who will do everything to get the next dose, selling whatever they find inside the house to manage to maintain the disgraceful addiction”.
Feliciano argues that the criminalization of the personal use of illicit drugs helps to inhibit the consumption of these substances in society. “In fact, there are no light drugs, they all involve human beings until they lead to moral and physical collapse”, says the pastor in his article for the Full News.
“We hope that the STF takes into account the suffering of the families of young people involved with drugs and maintains what the law provides, which criminalizes the use and trafficking of drugs in our country. The beautiful and orderly youth and their families thank you”, he concludes.
