The good news first: In May, June and July there were 91 electricity and 80 gas price reductions in the local basic supply tariff by an average of 12 percent. The comparison portal Check24 determined: Since January 1, 2023, more than 200 basic suppliers have reduced their prices for electricity and gas. But: Nevertheless, 90 percent of the gas tariffs in the basic supply are still above the price brake, for electricity it is 76 percent. Only new customers pay tariffs that are well below the price caps, as determined by the comparison portal Verivox.
