The patrol noticed a gold BMW M4 driving at crazy speed on the 107th kilometer of the highway in the direction of Prague. The maximum permitted speed in the area is 130 kilometers per hour.
“The police officers asked the driver to submit the documents necessary for driving and operation of the vehicle for their inspection and then asked him to submit to a breathalyzer test. Her result was negative,” said police spokeswoman Dana Čírtková.
The spokeswoman added that such an offense cannot be resolved on the spot by imposing a fine, which is why the police have documented it, and it will be dealt with in administrative proceedings. The thirty-three-year-old driver faces a fine of up to ten thousand crowns, the removal of five points and a driving ban for up to one year.
Čírtková also points out that such a high speed is dangerous not only for the driver himself, but also for other road users.
“It can be very dangerous, especially when another driver decides to overtake a slow-moving vehicle and swerve into the left lane because they don’t anticipate that the vehicle behind them in the left lane is approaching at such a high speed.” the spokeswoman concluded.
