CEOE, CEPYME and Siemens Spain have agreed to highlight the role that PERTEs can play, promoted by European recovery funds, to reactivate the industry and to do so in strategic sectors to promote autonomy in Europe, with a focus on innovation, technology and sustainability.

This has been one of the conclusions of the CEOE-CEPYME Business Meeting in which the president and CEO of Siemens Spain, Agustín Escobar, has intervened, who has reflected on “Industry, infrastructures and mobility. Digitization and sustainability, next Net Zero station”.

In his speech, Escobar pointed out that “digitization and sustainability are the two axes on which the transformation of our economic model must pivot in order to successfully face the challenges we face”.

In this sense, he explained that Siemens has the purpose of helping to transform people’s day-to-day life “with technologies that improve the quality of life and help to strengthen sustainability as the axis of business action”.

“For this reason, we are convinced that it is necessary to apply, supported by digitization, radical changes in the way of life, in the way we relate to the environment, in the way we move and transport goods, in how we organize life in megacities and how we manufacture in a more efficient and environmentally friendly way”, added the President and CEO of Siemens Spain.

At the opening of the meeting, the president of CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, underlined the role of Siemens Spain as a technological partner in the PERTEs promoted by Spain, from decarbonization, water or agri-food to aeronautics or electric vehicles and connected.

In this line, he highlighted the Spanishness of the company, which began operating in our country in 1895 and has contributed to creating value in Spain, in line with its DNA: innovation and putting technology at the service of companies and the society.

Likewise, he pointed out Escobar’s work at the head of Siemens Spain and his commitment to a strategy focused on excellence, growth, efficiency, people and society. “Someone passionate about innovation, digitization and sustainability, as future and present axes, and for the development and management of talent, of high-performance teams to positively transform people and organizations”, has added.

At the end of the day, the president of CEPYME, Gerardo Cuerva, stressed that digital transformation and decarbonization or energy transformation are an opportunity for the productive fabric and that companies such as Siemens Spain contribute to small and medium-sized companies can meet these challenges.
