This week MetSul Meteorologia released the rain forecast for the Midwest, Southeast and South of Brazil until the end of May. If you live in one of these regions, read on to find out what to expect from the weather over the next few days.

According to the analysis, the return of rain in these regions is even expected, with new episodes of instability in the South. However, the most unstable weather will be towards the end of the month, especially in the Center-South of the country.
This is because, currently, the Midwest and Southeast are under the influence of a large mass of dry air, which has inhibited the occurrence of rainfall. In many of these regions, such as Minas Gerais, Goiás and the interior of São Paulo, it did not rain this month.
In the city of São Paulo, for example, the last significant precipitation occurred ten days ago, with 13.6 mm in 24 hours. In Franca, in the north of São Paulo, there was still no record of rain in May.

The forecast indicates that the weather will remain dry in the city of São Paulo and in most of the interior of the state. The week will be completely without rain in almost the entire state of São Paulo, with dry and hot air, which will result in high temperature afternoons for this time of year.
The rain will return more widely to São Paulo between the 28th and 31st of May, due to the passage of a cold front. This cold front will also bring rain to some regions of the West, Center and South of Minas Gerais, which have been without rain for weeks, as well as to Rio de Janeiro between the 29th and 31st.
No Midwest, there will be occasional rains in Mato Grosso do Sul and in the western region of Mato Grosso at the beginning of the week, but dry weather will prevail during the week. At the end of the month, a cold front will bring broader rainfall to Mato Grosso do Sul, several areas of Mato Grosso and even to the south of Goiás.
No south of Brazil, a cold front will bring more clouds and irregular rains at the beginning of the week, with low volumes of precipitation. However, throughout the week, the weather should remain mostly firm, with high temperatures for this time of year in the afternoons.
From Friday (26), the rain will begin to intensify in part of Rio Grande do Sul and there will be instability during the next weekend in the three states of the southern region. At the end of the month, instability may intensify in Paraná, with more widespread rains and high volumes in some locations.
According to the map made available by MetSul, the highest volumes of rain are expected for southern Brazil, São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul and Rio de Janeiro. Much of this precipitation in the South will occur in the last days of May, while in Central Brazil most of the projected rain will be concentrated in the last days of the month. Some areas further north in the Midwest and Southeast may remain without rain until the end of May.
