“Tired” but happy, Clarisse Agbégnénou can savor. Just 11 months after giving birth to her daughter, the French judoka has regained her place at the top of the world hierarchy. A habit, for the double Olympic gold medalist in Tokyo, who offered her 6th title of world champion, in Doha (Qatar) on May 10. One more coronation which nevertheless has a unique flavor: during these World Championships, Clarisse Agbégnénou was able to keep her little Athena with her, in particular to breastfeed her, even in the warm-up room. A first, Clarisse Agbégnénou’s request having been heard and accepted by the International Judo Federation.

“I hope that the women will say to themselves: ‘Clarisse has succeeded’, there are gaps that have opened up a little”, explains the six-time world champion, grateful to the International Federation. “I even have other ideas. We know that there are athletes who are mothers, there are people from different federations or coaches who also have children, so if they (the International Federation, Editor’s note) can also open a small crèche… We will push in this direction so that everyone is well”.

Moving the lines while continuing to win, Clarisse Agbégnénou attacks the last year leading to the Paris Olympic Games full of enthusiasm. With a dream, of course, in sight: to offer the gold medal to little Athena.
