Burkina/security: The CSC’s 10 tips for supervising citizens

Ouagadougou, May 23, 2023 (AIB) – The Superior Council of Communication (CSC) on Tuesday in Ouagadougou developed 10 tips for Burkinabè citizens for responsible behavior on social networks in the context of security crisis and social tension, noted the ‘AIB on site.

“This advice is inspired by our moral values, wisdom and common sense. These are rules that are binding on each of us today, in view of the fragile situation of our country, in view of the security challenge and the need to maintain solid ties in our living together”, declared the President of the Superior Council of Communication, Abdoulazize Bamogo.

In these 10 pieces of advice, the CSC invites fellow citizens to always express themselves with honesty, to show common sense and critical thinking, not to approve and relay serious messages, to avoid indexing a person, an ethnic group, a religion, a specific group and incitement to hatred, the glorification of violence, the fueling of conflicts and stigmatization.

The CSC also advises not to attack anyone in the comments, not to share a video, an image, or an audio before having verified whether it is authentic and whether the source is credible. Before publishing, sharing, liking or commenting, let’s make sure that the message transmitted is not prohibited by law.

According to Mr. Bamogo, citizens must respect these 10 tips “to give our Nation all the care it needs to stand up”.

The Higher Council for Communication is counting on the involvement of players from the world of education, teaching, players from the media world, civil society organizations and those active with young people to promote these 10 tips and ensure their adoption by our citizens.
