The General Directorate of Migration and Immigration reported that on May 27 and 28 it will carry out identification sessions, aimed at neighborhood border transit of girls, boys and adolescents residing in the border area between El Salvador and Guatemala, which will take place at the San Cristóbal de la Frontera Canton School Center, in the department of Santa Ana.

This is the second day of the year and this program is intended to benefit more than 5,000 families residing in border areas of El Salvador that adjoin Honduras and Guatemala, facilitating the passage through the border and guaranteeing safe, orderly and regular migration. .

“President Nayib Bukele, since his term began, has ordered us to work to settle this historical debt with the inhabitants of the former bolsones, who for so many years were abandoned by previous governments, without rights, without identity. We are very satisfied because we have managed to register thousands of people with these days that have three modalities: Border Neighborhood Transit (Adults and children and adolescents), Seasonal Workers and Cross-Border Workers and now we are expanding the scope of this project by taking the first day for the bordering inhabitants of the western zone,” said the general director of Migration and Immigration, Ricardo Cucalón.

The card process is free and, in addition to facilitating transit, it allows children and adolescents to access services such as education and health within Salvadoran territory.

In these next days, the families that live in Cantón Piedras Azules, municipality of Candelaria de la Frontera, Santa Ana and on the Guatemalan side, Caserío San Cristóbal de la Frontera Municipality of Atescatempa, department of Jutiapa will benefit.
