Kumbalam (Kochi): An attempt was made to derail a train at the Aroor-Kumbalam railway bridge on the Ernakulam-Alappuzha route. The sidewalk, which is made of grille, has a manhole for inspection on the pillared areas. It was found lying on the railway tracks with the grilles closed.
Earlier the grill was made of metal but now it is made of fiber. Vijagiri untied 13 fiberglass covers and placed them on the railway tracks. Of these, five were placed on the track and eight in the middle. The locomotive pilot of the locomotive, which arrived at around 1.30 am, spotted the object on the track in yellow and noticed it. The engine went up and down through a few lids but was crushed because it was fiber.
If it were metal, there is a risk of the train overturning and causing a major accident. If it is a thief, it will be clear that it is fiber when you take one. If it was metal, it would weigh more than 25 kilograms. The Railway Protection Force reached the spot and inspected it.
