Pentecost weather

The turbulent weekdays brought local flooding and even a tornado, now the weather service warns of severe UV radiation.

Even on the long Pentecost weekend, the weather remains unstable, but the daily highs climb up to 30°C again. Officially, the highest temperature of the year so far was measured on Tuesday in Fülöpháza, at 29.8°C. It remains to be seen whether this will now be cracked.

Thunderstorms and cloudbursts, such as those that have flooded many streets and cellars in the past few days, are still in prospect for Friday. This time, the OMSZ meteorologists exceptionally assign the lowest thunderstorm tendency to the north-west of the country. Strong gusts of wind are to be expected there. On Saturday and Whitsunday, the sun will be stronger and stronger, before on Whit Monday it has to share the day again with sometimes thicker, sometimes thinner clouds. On Saturday there are still showers – whether in Transdanubia, along the Danube or in the east of the country. On Sunday it remains mostly friendly. For Whit Monday, the population in the southern half of the country should be prepared for showers and thunderstorms. The temperatures are stable around 25°C on all days of the long weekend, locally up to 30°C are conceivable.
