“Great Country”: Ido Rosenblum was excellent, the problems were all around him

by time news

From the moment it became known that Eyal Kitsis had contracted the corona virus and would be absent from submitting “Great Country,” for the second time in 18 years of the program’s existence, there was only one natural candidate to replace him. With all due respect to the bizarre proposals that have surfaced on the networks, from Mionit Levy to Ofira Asaig, there is only one person who is also a skilled presenter, also a witty and entertaining person, also with experience in satire programs, was also a former member of Eretz and signed.

Indeed, Ido Rosenblum sat down on the coveted chair and looked like he had been doing it for years. Although he tried not to steal the show, he was natural and relaxed and brought with him a fresh spirit, which proved that cemeteries are full of irreplaceable people. The problem is that this match does not seem to have a future – Kitsis will probably return, and Rosenblum, who is not an actor and does not play characters, can not really fit into the regular cast.

Aside from the obvious jokes surrounding the male exchange in the presenter’s position (Zarhovich-Bennett’s remark that they both ousted the dictator who had been in office for decades stood out), this episode, like the entire current season, faltered. The writers seem to have really tried to get into Bennett and his shaky government, but that was not it yet.

  • After being required to pay half a million shekels: the new decree imposed by the court on Yair Netanyahu

Eli Finish’s Yair Lapid, formerly one of the strongest characters in the show, lost some direction, Tom Yaar’s Orna Barbibai was quite detached, and it was a bit sad to see Liat Har Lev, one of my personal favorites in the cast, receive as Ayelet Shaked a long text all about gut actions. There were two who saved the situation: Asi Cohen as Lieberman (but there is nothing new about that), and especially Yaniv Bitton as Aryeh Deri, with a brilliant imitation that once again reflected the feeling that it is even easier for “Eretz” to mock the previous government.

Beyond that, “Wonderland” has slipped, as usual in the Holy Land, into the self-promotion of Keshet, and this time also of its news company. If the presence of Tzadi Tzarfati and Ofira Asaig in the political panel can still be slipped because of the presence of Rosenblum, the host of “The Singer in a Mask”, then in other parts of the program the imitations of the news company’s reporters were an easy and slightly lazy solution. The Carmel storm was not what they promised? Here are imitations of Ilanit Adler and Matan Yaakov. Violence in the Arab sector? Get Purat Nassar. Shocking cases in the education system? Here is Yael Odem.

This is how the Channel 12 news company is marked as the Israeli tribal bonfire and its writings become cultural heroes (when did you see characters from Channel 13 reporters in Eretz, except for the imitation of Avishai Ben-Haim that Yaniv Bitton brought from home?). The next day they will compliment each other on the imitations, and watch the episodes again, and fill in the endless air time of the afternoon topical strip.
