Diphtheria, the highly contagious infectious disease, is making a comeback. After only 452 cases were registered across Europe between 2012 and 2021, there was an unusual increase in 2022. By January 2023, Austria, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Norway, the Czech Republic, France and Switzerland had reported a total of 391 cases.
