Moments of tension and concern were experienced in Bucaramanga and were recorded on video, after a drunk man escaped from a Metropolitan Police patrol and almost ran over the traffic director when they asked him to get out of the vehicle to perform a test of breathalyzer, after he crashed his truck into two taxis.
“That’s the truck that tried to run us over a moment ago, please get out, get out sir…” said the traffic director in the middle of the operation, but he ignored it, instead the car backed up and escaped, going over one of the platforms, becoming a danger to other drivers on the road and passers-by in the area .
They had to chase the driver through several neighborhoods in the city, including San Pío, Cabecera del Llano, Terrazas, La Floresta and La Pedregosa, where he was finally captured by traffic and police officers.
The man pulled over, left his truck at a gas station, and fled again, only this time on foot, ultimately facilitating his arrest. The person responsible was given two traffic fines –according to the National Traffic Code–, one for escape and another for evading the authorities, for a sum close to $55 million.
