Movie theaters had their best ticket sales since winter break 2019 thanks to new releases and the two holidays.
According to what Ultracine reported from May 25 to 28, 1,234,000 tickets were sold, but it will surely be something more when the cinemas that send the figures late are processed. This generated almost 1,500 million pesos in revenue in the 860 theaters throughout the country that reported sales.
The best weekends of 2022 were obviously in July during the winter holidays, but the highest was 1.1 million.
In 2021 the theaters just returned and the best thing was in December they are Spiderman where there were a million. In the summer of 2020 that the cinemas worked, there were no similar figures.
And if we go until 2019 in July during vacations, almost 1.9 million were reached, but with the premiere of Toy Story, the highest grossing film in history in Argentina.
In May of that year, the best weekend had sold some 600,000 tickets, but May 25 fell on a Saturday. This month of May it has already sold 4.6 million tickets and 17 million have accumulated in the year.
This weekend the first three films sold 1.1 million of the total, with Fast and Furious being the winner, closely followed by The Little Mermaid and quite a distance away Guardians of the Galaxy.
