The Spanish islands of the Balearic and Canary Islands are the ones that register the highest number of vehicles with associated risks, 27.85% in both cases, which may be due to the high volume of rental cars that circulate on their roads, the be major tourist destinations.

This is a factor to take into account for those drivers who are going to buy a car from one of these two autonomous communities. On the opposite side, Castilla-La Mancha stands out in a very positive way, with barely a 3% risk for its vehicles and an excellent 0.46% of previous accidents or damages.

According to the data it handles Carfax, relative to the average age of the cars that circulate in each community, Castilla y León, with 64.18%; Extremadura, with 64.02%, and Galicia, with 63.58%, lead the classification with practically two out of every three cars that are over ten years old.

In the rest of Spain the data is not much better, since the rest of the communities are above 50%. In other words, one in two vehicles is more than ten years old.

At the opposite extreme is the Community of Madrid, where only 40.61% of the cars are over ten years old, with an even more spectacular figure: a third of the cars that circulate in Madrid are between zero and three years old. of antiquity, which could be due, in part, to the registrations registered by the leasing companies that operate throughout the Spanish territory.

In view of these figures, the different regional governments can encourage the promotion of plans such as MOVES III, aimed at electric cars and plug-in hybrids, or encourage the purchase of pre-owned cars, without discriminating by the type of engine used, to rejuvenate the aging Spanish car park.

To carry out this report, the private provider of vehicle records in Spain and Europe, Carfax, has analyzed more than 80% of the cars that circulate on our roads. This analysis reveals that all the autonomous communities have room to improve their road and ecological policies, since it is in their hands to work, together with the Spanish government, so that Spain leaves the last places in the classifications that place the country as one of the that house, in the EU, the oldest cars.

By communities, each of them has points to highlight in a positive way, although others can also be greatly improved. Thus, Andalusia, the community with the largest vehicle fleet in Spain (14%), remains in the average of all the incidence indicators, but must improve in the inconsistencies of the mileage of its vehicles, since 4.73% of their cars are affected. It is surpassed in this classification by Castilla La Mancha, with 4.85%; Castilla y León, with 5.08%; Murcia, with 5.48% and, above all, Extremadura, which climbed to 6.13%. The new governments of these five communities should take good note of this.

Catalonia, for its part, leads the classification of the autonomous communities with cars that have suffered the most damage or previous accidents, with almost 4%. A short distance away are Madrid, with 3.60%, and Murcia, with 3.40%. Fortunately, only these three communities are above 3% in this type of incidence.
