Watan Al-Youm: Representative Adnan Mashuqa called on the government to reconsider the tax imposed on fuel to contribute to a tangible reduction in prices, indicating that fuel prices will not decrease due to the government’s imposition of a fixed tax ranging between (8-12) dinars on each plate.
Mashuqa added that the tax imposed on fuel contributed to raising prices for citizens despite their global decline, noting that “it is unreasonable for the government to charge a tax higher than the price of the gasoline itself.
Mashuqa warned of an upcoming wave of price hikes in light of the continuation of the current situation, pointing out that the government is not satisfied with the taxes and fees it collects from the sales tax, lands, roofs and other taxes and fees, but rather keeps the fuel tax as it is.
Mashuqa stressed that the government’s duty is to reduce prices, not to seek sources of income from citizens’ pockets and impose taxes and fees on them.
