Following the government’s backing for the Ministry of Environmental Protection’s policy: Environmental organizations withdrew petition to the High Court regarding the Red-Med EPA agreement

by time news

Environmental organizations withdrew the petition regarding the agreement signed by the government EPA with Red-Med, which significantly increases the transportation of crude oil in the Gulf of Eilat (HCJ 3072/21). This is in light of the State Attorney’s Office’s announcement that the Ministry of Environmental Protection’s position that there will be no additional risk in the Gulf of Eilat is backed by the Ministry of Justice and the government.

Minister of Environmental Protection Tamar Zandberg She said at the end of the hearing: “The result of the hearing in the High Court is clear. The policy of the Ministry of Environmental Protection – zero additional risk in the Gulf of Eilat – is arbitrary and exists, and is supported by the state. “We will implement it in practice and stop the expansion of the EPA’s activities. The State of Israel has not been allowed to become a dangerous and polluting oil bridge. We will continue to protect the unique coral reef and the valuable and sensitive marine and coastal environment.”
