China launched the Shenzhou-16 manned spacecraft to its orbital station. There are three astronauts on board. After this launch, the record for being in orbit of people was broken.

The launch was carried out from the Jiuquan Cosmodrome in the northwest of China using the Long March-2-ef carrier rocket, reports “Xinhua”. The ship entered orbit and is heading autonomously to the Tiangong station. It should automatically dock to the base module “Tianhe”.

The crew includes Jing Haipeng, Gui Haichao and Zhu Yangzhu. They will spend five months at the station. For the commander of the ship, Jing Haipeng, the flight was the fourth in his career, for the other two astronauts – the first.

There are now 17 people in orbit: six Chinese, three Russians, five Americans, two people from Saudi Arabia and one from the United Arab Emirates. This is a record for the simultaneous presence of people in orbit.
